Final repository for spent nuclear fuel
On January 27th, 2022, SKB was licensed by the Swedish government to construct a repository for spent nuclear fuel in Forsmark and an encapsulation plant in Oskarshamn.
Final repository for short-lived waste
The repository for short-lived radioactive waste at Forsmark has been in operation since 1988 and is currently being expanded to also include decommissioning waste.
